Oliver Schmidtke is an associate professor in the Department of Political Science and the Department of History at the University of Victoria, where he also holds a Jean Monnet Chair in European History and Politics. His recent books include Of States, Rights, and Social Closure: Governing Migration and Citizenship, edited with Saime Ozcurumez (2007, in press) and Die Einhegung des Anderen. Türkische, polnische und russlanddeutsche Einwanderer in Deutschland, Klaus Eder and Valentin Rauer, co-authors (2004).
Serhy Yekelchyk is an associate professor of Slavic studies and history and chair of the Department of Germanic and Slavic Studies at the University of Victoria. His recent books include Stalin’s Empire of Memory: Russian-Ukrainian Relations in the Soviet Historical Imagination (2004) and Ukraine: Birth of a Modern Nation (2007).
